The Oravan™ Herbst, like the Oravan™, has a truly open anterior design. The appliance contains no buccal or incisal coverage on the anterior teeth, encouraging natural protrusion of the tongue, better air flow, incredible patient comfort levels, and no interference with anterior dental cosmetic work.
The upper and lower pieces are connected with Herbst telescopic hardware, allowing for easy lateral and vertical movement. This is often beneficial for those patients that brux or grind their teeth while sleeping.
If requested, elastic hooks may be added to the device to help guide the jaw back to its desired position.

Oravan Herbst has an upper and lower component connected with telescopic arms. The arms allow for easy vertical and lateral movement, which is often beneficial for those patients that brux or grind their teeth while sleepeing.
The rear view of the device further illustrates the open anterior. We make sure to keep the lingual areas of the devices as thin as possible, allowing for maximum tongue space and comfort. Please note the orange shading is for illustration purposes only. All devices are made in clear acrylic.
